Works with any calendar

Use LookOut with Apple Calendar, Fantastical, or any app that supports calendar subscriptions.

How it works

LookOut syncs your Outlook Web calendar to Google Calendar — with rich data intact. Attendees, Teams links, descriptions, categories. All of it lands in your Google Calendar as real events.

From there, any calendar app that supports ICS or webcal subscriptions can read your Google Calendar. Apple Calendar, Fantastical, Thunderbird, or any standards-compliant app. The bridge is already built into Google Calendar — you just need to connect it.

The result: a single source of truth flowing from Outlook through Google Calendar to wherever you prefer to actually look at your schedule.

Set up Apple Calendar

Google Calendar exposes a secret ICS URL for each calendar. Subscribe to it from Apple Calendar and your Outlook events appear automatically — no plugins, no accounts, no extra software.

  1. 1
Open Google Calendar in your browser at calendar.google.com.
  2. 2
In the left sidebar, find the calendar LookOut syncs to. Click the three-dot menu next to it and select "Settings and sharing".
  3. 3
Scroll down to the "Integrate calendar" section. Find "Secret address in iCal format".
  4. 4
Copy that URL. Keep it private — anyone with this URL can read your calendar.
  5. 5
On macOS: Open Apple Calendar, then go to File → New Calendar Subscription. Paste the URL and click Subscribe.
On iOS/iPadOS: Go to Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar. Paste the URL and tap Next.
  6. 6
Name the calendar and set the refresh frequency. Every hour is a good default — Apple Calendar does not refresh in real time.
  7. 7
Tap or click Subscribe. Your Outlook events will appear in Apple Calendar within the next refresh cycle.

Other calendar apps

The same ICS URL from Google Calendar works with any app that supports webcal:// or ICS subscriptions. The setup is nearly identical: find the "subscribe" or "add calendar by URL" option and paste the URL.

Fantastical macOS & iOS — Calendar → Add Calendar → From URL
Thunderbird File → New → Calendar → On the network → iCalendar
Any webcal app Anything that accepts a webcal:// or https:// ICS URL

Common questions

How often does Apple Calendar refresh?

It depends on your settings — typically between every 1 and 24 hours. Apple Calendar does not refresh in real time. If you need to see changes as soon as they happen, use Google Calendar directly or trigger a manual refresh in Apple Calendar.

Will changes I make in Apple Calendar sync back to Outlook?

No. Everything here is one-way. LookOut syncs Outlook to Google Calendar, and the ICS subscription is also one-way (Google Calendar to Apple Calendar). Changes made in Apple Calendar stay local.

Do I need a Pro subscription for this?

No. The ICS subscription from Google Calendar works with any LookOut plan. The Free plan syncs title, time, and location — that data will appear in Apple Calendar. If you upgrade to Pro, richer data like attendees, Teams links, and descriptions will be visible too.
